DETROIT - Today, Senator Adam Hollier received an endorsement for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District from the Grosse Pointe Democratic Club.

The Grosse Pointe Democratic Club, founded almost 50 years ago in 1975, is the largest and most active Democratic Club in the state of Michigan. Their membership includes over 500 impassioned residents from Harper Woods, all five of the Grosse Pointe communities, and East Detroit, all communities which make up a part of the new 13th District.

“Our endorsement process was rigorous, but ultimately our choice was clear,” said Grosse Pointe Democratic Club President Gary Bresnehan, “Adam has served as our state senator for the last 4 years. We have gotten to know the work he’s done as an elected official, and what he stands for. How he has served our very diverse communities is reflective of the way he will represent a larger district in Congress. We have seen him be successful on a smaller scale serving in the state Senate, and have confidence in his ability to serve a larger district at the federal level. Adam is a responsive and accessible leader, and consistently shows up. He is easy to talk to about issues that matter, even when there is disagreement, and he is very engaged in attending our meetings and engaged within our communities.”

The Club reviewed all candidates in the race for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District who applied for consideration for endorsement, conducted interviews, and then the Executive Board voted on the candidate they wanted to support.

“It is an honor to have the endorsement of the Grosse Pointe Democratic Club,” State Senator Adam Hollier said. “As I have said before, the challenges within these many diverse communities are unique - but there is so much room for opportunity to work together, at the federal level, to support sustainable, positive change. I am excited to have the support of such a powerful organization, and I look forward to campaigning together on the East Side throughout the summer.”

The Grosse Pointe Democrats join this large group of endorsers, including Councilwoman Regina Williams from Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe Farms City Councilman Neil Sroka, former Grosse Pointe Park Councilwoman Darci McConnell, the Original East Side Slate, and Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, in supporting Adam Hollier for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District.
